Dragonette: Eight Eggs A Week

November 13th, 2007

After two weeks on the road, you start to forget how normal life works.

Today, we’re wondering, “What did I used to eat for breakfast, before I lived on a highway?” We have faint memories of breakfast options, but now the only thing that comes to mind is bacon and eggs. Whether it be of the “perfect” variety (McDonald’s Egg McMuffin, Tim Horton’s whatever-breakfast-sandwich), or the Husky/ Denny’s/Applebee’s/Cracker Barrel Grandslam/Lumberjack/Grandma’s Country-Style breakfast, it’s all we really know, and all that we really want. This morning is no exception… in the Senator Hotel in Saskatoon, three entire bands are slowly waking up and calling room to room, building up a posse of bacon-and-egg hunters who will soon take over the Olympic Restaurant down the street, and finish off every all-day-breakfast available.

Just to catch you all up to speed, we (Dragonette) are on a cross- Canada !Xclaim/Yaris tour with two other fab Canadian bands: Mother Mother from BC and The Most Serene Republic from the Republic of Milton, Ontario. Today is about halfway through the tour, and it’s also a day off. It will be a battle of bandwidth today at the Senator Hotel, as nearly a dozen band laptops reach out to gmail, Myspace, Facebook, Bebo (and maybe some 19+ only websites). We (Martina and Dan) are up early and have it easy, but it’s going to be tough mid-afternoon, so we might go for some 5-pin bowling. (See what I mean about forgetting how normal life works? Bowling on a Monday afternoon?) Life is grand today.

Tomorrow is Martina’s birthday and we’re going to celebrate with a drive to Regina and a Tuesday night rock show.
