I swear Drake could have fooled me because despite this crazy heat, I woke up thinking it was Christmas! Drake took to the OVO blog today to drop a song off of his sophomore album, Take Care (listen here). The track entitled Marvin’s Room is a drunk dial that’s not sloppy and embarrassing, but a wake up call to those who may have thought that Drizzy was good and gone. Catchy hooks, honest and raw lyricism, and an infectious beat by Noah “40” Shebib gives Marvin’s Room just enough bite to keep it on repeat.
It’s true that Drake has been a busy guy lately and a little bit off the radar, but he’s been hard at work on his upcoming album, which will be released on October 24th this year. He’s also prepping his first official single off of Take Care, out this July. I have a feeling it will show Drizzy Drake going in much like he does on his collaboration with DJ Khaled on I’m On One.
Until then, I’ll keep enjoying these quieter, but deliciously addictive bits of Take Care that we keep getting. Drake previously released a track entitled Dreams Money Can Buy, which is a dynamite combination between 40’s smooth production and Drake’s flow. You can get a free download of that off of the OVO Blog as well.
You can be sure that Drake is laying some serious groundwork to be the talk of the town all the way into 2012, because music like this cannot be ignored. The best part? I am more than certain that it will all make it on to his set list at the second Annual OVO Festival, taking place on July 31st in Toronto at the Molson Amphitheater. The throne is there for the taking, and Drake is certainly on his way to claiming it – just watch.
