Drake started from the bottom and has moved his way up to Brooklyn. The Toronto MC is the latest performer added to the star studded line up for Sunday’s MTV VMAs, which already includes Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke and appearances from Selena Gomez and One Direction.
Drake announced the news on his Twitter account today, tweeting “Excited to announce I’ll be performing at the 2013 @MTV VMA’s!!! #Brooklyn #OVO #Started #NeedAKawsTrophy”. Sunday’s performance at the VMAs will be Drake’s first since his 2010 break out year when he performed Fancy alongside Swizz Beatz and Mary J. Blige.
The Young Money rapper is slated to perform Started From The Bottom, the first single off his upcoming third studio album Nothing Was The Same, which is set to drop on September 17.
