Um, who knows whether or not this is to be believed, but there’s a rumour that Rihanna is in talks to star in a remake of The Bodyguard. Dear Hollywood, Dear Rihanna, Dear Anybody involved: WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!

I’m just wondering.

Allegedly Rihanna was in NYC meetings this weekend, one of which may have been about a PROPOSED “young and sexy” remake of The Bodyguard. Channing Tatum’s name was dropped as a possible co-lead.

On one hand, I’m beyond annoyed with the very concept of remaking The Bodyguard, but on the other hand I would watch it for curiosity’s sake (I have no willpower, what?!). I think Rihanna would actually be a good casting choice for the role (if she can pull off the acting), and a great chance for another huge soundtrack (just like the original). But really, it would be so much better to come up with a similar concept without calling it a remake - the original was no movie masterpiece, but for what it was trying to be, it was perfect. And it shouldn’t be touched. Cue “I Will Always Love You”, and we’re out.

PS: The Bodyguard soundtrack was my ish back in elementary school. Which songs were your jams?! I will belt “I Have Nothing” til the cows come home. Or “Queen of the Night”!!
