It’s a bold claim, I know. But believe me when I say I’ve been listening to Kings Of Leon’s Sex On Fire upwards of ten times a day for the past few weeks. It’s that good. It’s already my most listened to track of 2008 and I don’t think that’s gonna stop anytime soon.
I dare you not to adore this song. It’s three minutes and twenty-six seconds of pure bliss - it’s rockin’, it’s sexy, it’s layered and luscious, all at once. The hook is mind-numbingly catchy.
Kings Of Leon’s fourth album Only By The Night was just released this past Tuesday. They’re poised to ‘break’ America (their homestead!) with this album and I’m excited to see it happen. They’re on the cover of this month’s SPIN magazine (read it here), they performed on SNL last weekend and their tour sold out in mere moments (their lone Canadian date at the Kool Haus on November 7 included).
The Tennessee foursome is made up of brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared and their cousin Matthew (far left in the photo, if you care to know). They’ve been kicking around since 2003 but it’s only been since the release of 2007’s Because Of The Times that they’ve seen soaring success over in the UK and other parts of the world. Next=global domination??

Between this album and My Morning Jacket’s Evil Urges 2008 has been an amazing year for straight up rock albums. Yes!!!
Sooooooooooooooo good.
I went to buy the album the other day and it had sold out! Luckily I was still able to pick up the latest from TV on The Radio “Dear Science”. It’s an amazing album as well…but I really wanted “Only By the Night”. Thank goodness for the internet and iTunes! I’m still going to hunt down a physical album though, I’m a sucker for CDs and the album art and all.
Oh I’m also going to try and hunt down a ticket to that show too. I was silly and naive for thinking that it wouldn’t sell out right away, and now I am heartbroken and ticketless. What a shame eh? We Are Scientists are opening for them as well. ack!
since when do CDs “sell out”?? that’s never happened to me. wow, this is a watershed moment. i’m totally checking the stats on album sales next week once it’s been 7 days! i’ll bet they’re high!
it’s a great song with an even better video.
Rah rah oo la la rama ma la la gaga!

Kat, I totally agree! The album is amazing and I can’t stop listening to it. One of the best albums of 08. Their Toronto show is going to be awesome, too bad it sold out so quick.
