Eclipse Will Have the Widest U.S. Release Ever

June 30th, 2010

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has already broken its first of presumably many box office records by having the widest U.S. domestic release in history.

The movie will show in 4,416 theatres in the United States starting Wednesday beating Iron Man 2’s record set two months ago by 36 theatres.

The movie not only has a midnight showing at some cinemas but also a 3 am showing to accommodate all of the late night fans already lined-up at some theatres.

To beat out last November’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon for best opening day they will have to surpass $72.7 million, which definitely is not unachievable.
