If you haven’t watched Emily Owens, M.D. yet, you really should because is funny, smart, and entertaining. And the best part? All the characters have layers to their personal stories, like Micah, Emily’s potential love interest. It’s revealed in the first episode that his mother suffers from pancreatic cancer. It’s one of the more heavier story lines but it reminds us that November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and it’s important to stay informed and get engaged with our community at large. Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death and 3 out of 4 will die within one year of their diagnosis. It’s also one of the most underfunded of all types of cancers.
What can you do to raise awareness? Show your support in wearing purple (like our man Justin Bieber), get all swagged out PanCan styles with Accessorize for Awareness, create discussion with family and friends, tweet out your support using the hashtag #EndPanCan, volunteer at your favourite non-profit, the list goes on! If you have a suggestion, tell us about it in the comments section!
Be sure to watch Emily Owens, M.D. every Monday at 8pm ET/5pm PT right here on MuchMusic and if you’ve missed the last episode, you can read the recap for Emily And … The Alan Zolman Incident right over here.
But until then, watch the preview for the next episode of Emily Owens, M.D. here.
