Okay, maybe this headline should read ‘Eminem had one great Super Bowl ad and one meh ad.’ Still, Eminem was the only celeb to appear in more than one ad during last night’s telecast of Super Bowl XLV, which is pretty impressive considering celebrity ads featured Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian.
Em lent his voice to a claymation cartoon version of himself selling Lipton Brisk Ice Tea. Last year’s Brisk spokesman was none other than Ozzy Osbourne, who this year appeared in an ad alongside the Biebs for Best Buy.
But the commercial that really stole the show was Chrysler’s Ode to Detroit. As one of the city’s greatest success stories, Em was behind the wheel of the new Chrysler 200, driving through the streets of one of the cities that was hit hardest by the car recession of the last decade. Eminem’s Grammy winning track Lose Yourself can be heard playing in the background of the commercial, which ends with the rapper saying “This is the Motor City and this is what we do.”
In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo, US National Champion figure skater Alissa Czisny can be spotted performing one of her signature clock-wise spins. Czisny is a resident of Bloomfield, Michigan.
