Far East Movement show introspection and sensitivity with the difficult subject matter of drug addiction in their latest single Little Bird. Sampling Canadian songstress Feist’s track Caught A Long Wind, the pairing of the two artists is a huge success, delivering a haunting overtone that stays with the listener long after the song has ended.
Rapping “Nothing is what it seems/ Baby girl is just a fiend / When she comes down it was all a dream”, Far East Movement front man Kev Nish told Earmilk that working on a song so different from the typical FEM sound was ‘amazing’. Said Nish,”[It] was amazing to do something outside the box with producer Cherry Cherry Boom Boom and get a chance to go deeper into our song writing.”
In the music video, Nish plays a man whose torn between loving his girlfriend and leaving her because of her addiction to prescription pills. With gritty visuals showing a contrast between the happy times of sobriety and the lows of drug use, Little Bird is a stunning musical and visual accomplishment from the Bass Down Low pioneers.
