Starting with the monstrous hits such as Like a G6, Rocketeer, and So What from their 2010 debut, the boys of Far East Movement have maintained their massive following. The group followed up on their debut album with their sophomore disc Dirty Bass, which dropped on May 22 for all their international fans (US edition to be released in June). Although they stick to a similar formula of party anthems and guest features, the album showcases just how dirty the boys can get with their bass.
Dirty Bass follows in the footsteps of lead Live My Life featuring Justin Bieber, with infectious beats, catchy choruses and danceable melodies throughout the album. The sound on Dirty Bass ranges from FEM’s signature sound to surprising (in a good way) female accompaniments. Fellow record label mate Kay sings a love track titled Flossy, while Feist was sampled in the band’s emotional Little Bird. Tracks Fly With U and If I Die Tomorrow were able to revive and remind us of great vocals Cassie and Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel. From fellow chart topping artists to industry newcomers, all guest features helped Far East Movement deliver another successful album.
Best Tracks: Where The Wild Things Are ft Crystal Kay, Candy ft Pitbull, Fly With U ft Cassie, Little Bird, Basshead ft YG
RIYL: LMFAO, Pitbull, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj
Rating: 7/10
