Far East Movement show they’re not a one hit wonder

October 14th, 2010

Need to know: The group responsible for that catchy number one hit, Like a G6, is also known as Far East Movement. Although they were signed to Cherrytree/Interscope Records 2010, they started their musical journey way back from 2003 in Los Angeles, California. Since then, touring with Lady Gaga and N.E.R.D overseas are listed as some of their many accomplishments. These boys bring something unique to the music industry; their Asian ethnicity. Hoping to break down the stereotypes using hip-hop, pop, electro, and dance, they present you with their album, Free Wired, released on October 12, 2010.

In 100 words or less: You can’t help but shake your booty to most, if not all of these songs. Practice those dance moves because the ridiculously upbeat tracks will become club anthems. This album was consistent in sound, theme, and mood. The ability to appeal to males and females is dominant in their suggestive tracks, but also with their serenading singing voices. The boys may have over done it with the amount of guest features on this album with only one track going solo, but the albums is an amazingly well done first release. Far East Movement should gain more confidence to bare it all themselves in the next release.

Best Tracks: Rocketeer ft Ryan Tedder of One Republic, So What?, Don’t Look Now ft Keri Hilson

RIYL: Daft Punk, Mike Posner (current tour mate!), Black Eyed Peas

Rating: 7/10

Buy, Download, Steal, or Don’t Bother: Buy!

P.S: MuchMusic got a shout out in the thank you section of the album! No, THANK YOU, Far East Movement!
