As we’ve reported, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato have inked the deal making them new judges on Simon Cowell’s X-Factor. Generally people are pretty hyped to see both on stage with fellow judges Simon Cowell and LA Reid. However, Jimmy Kimmel had a bone to pick with Spears as he used her as the butt of his jokes as he presented at the ABC Upfronts over the weekend.

Jimmy used sarcastic commentary like, “No one knows talent like Britney Spears and Demi Lovato” and “As you know Britney Spears has been wanting to be a judge ever since she spent the last 10 years appearing before them.” Apparently his comedy received mixed reviews by the crowd, which isn’t surprising because as far as we are concerned, Britney Spears has made so much headway since 2007. It just seems tasteless to go after someone who has been pretty level in the last year. Jimmy also made the classy remark, “If you pay her $15 million, how much would you have to pay someone who could sing?”

We’re already told you about the new 12″ from Toronto’s Doldrums, so we’ll keep this short. Here’s another one from Egypt, which is out via Souterrain Transmissions on June 4th.

John Mayer went on The Ellen Degeneres Show to talk about his absence from the spotlight over the past two years, his time on living in Montana, and how he feels that his life will play out. John talked candidly and honestly with Ellen on his prolonged adolescence explaining, “It was a very strange time and it sort of rocketed me into adulthood… It was a violent crash into being an adult.” What Mayer was referring to was the few choice words he had for his old girlfriend, Jessica Simpson and the demeanor in which he spoke while being interviewed with Rolling Stone and Playboy. These interviews were from two years ago and Mayer realized he needed to get away from the fame and being an all around d-bag.

So what to do when you’re a recovering jerk? You go to Montana. “The question ‘Why Montana?’ is the answer,” John told Ellen when she asked “Why Montana?”. “Why not be happy after awhile? You get to a certain age where you prepare yourself to be happy, sometimes you never remember to actually get happy. So I remembered how to get happy.” During this time John recorded his latest album Born And Raised and had prepared for a summer tour. Then, a growth was found near Mayer’s vocal cords which has taken him out of touring indefinitely. Despite this, John Mayer seems to be on a completely different plane now, returning to earth not just as a changed man but as an evolved one.

That famous cover catapulted the Burlington, Ontario group from general indie status to online heroes. Because of their unique one guitar performance of Somebody That I Used To Know, they broke records and now carry the title of most popular cover ever posted on YouTube. They just released a new track covering Nirvana’s Polly which is available off iTunes today. The video for this cover had already been on YouTube for a few weeks now and already has over a million views. The group will be headed to Lollapalooza on a busy North American tour this summer preceding the release of their first major label album release from Columbia Records.

Doom rap crew Death Grips recently canned their North American tour in order to finish their next album, No Love. So, good and bad news for fans.
