Oasis are not impressed by your attitude.
This weekend I bought myself some tickets to V-Fest Ontario, up at Burl’s Creek Farm in Oro-Medonte (it’s just north of Barrie). So now, I’m trying to learn-up about what I should expect/avoid at a festival, since I’ve never been to one before (oh Glastonbury and Reading/Leeds Festival(s), why are you so far away?). And I’ve found some things I wouldn’t have expected. Based on recent news, here are three reasons this festival could be a scary, scary place.
#1: Fashion? The New York Times went out and did a whole fashion spread of artists all dressed up at Coachella. I guess that means no one is worried about mud, like in the U.K. I guess that’s the fans, anyway. These photos are seriously awesome (and done in black and white), you should see! Just don’t expect me to dress that way!
#2: Fan Attacks! Oasis should maybe learn to stop playing festivals, since they seem to be having bad luck with them. Last year, at V-Fest Toronto, Noel Gallagher got shoved by some crazy dude and broke his ribs. THIS year a fan stormed the stage at Oasis’ set at the Benicassim festival in Spain, and it took 10 bouncers to take her down! Luckily, Crazy Fan got nowhere near the band.
#3: Death?! Just like we told you before, festivals can be a scary place. Last weekend, at the Pohoda festival in western Slovakia, one dude got killed and 40 more were injured, after a bad storm caused a tent collapse! So okay, things to avoid: tents. This is going to make camping difficult.
So pretty much I’m gonna have to hide in the car the whole time to avoid all this. Hopefully there’ll still be some room for good music with all these scary things about!
