The Kooks
Junk of the Heart, Listen Here
EMI
B
Need to know: Formed in 2003 in East Sussex, The Kooks have shown the influence of their home country on all three albums. Taking their sound from the Brit pop genre of the last fifty decades, The Kooks have returned with their third album, the macabre titled Junk of the Heart, which is bands most inspiring to date. The success of The Kooks 2006 debut album included the track She Moves In Her Own Way, which won the band their first Brit Award. The award winning song could easily fit into Junk of the Heart, which has taken the best in songwriting and musical arrangement from the band.
Via Twitter: The often sombre and melancholy Brit bar band have released a more mature and uplifting sound that shows huge growth in their musical risk taking.
Sample: Listen to Junk of the Heart in its entirety here in MuchMusic’s First Spins.
RIYL: The Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes
