First Spin: Architects – The Here and Now

January 21st, 2011

Listen to The Here and Now by Architects here!

Need to Know: Architects, the five-piece comprising of Sam Carter, Tom and Dan Searle, Tim Hilier-Brook and Alex “Ali Dino” Dean, have been front runners in progressive metalcore since forming in 2004. Hailing from Brighton, UK, the band has released a gradual, steady flow of records including 2006’s debut Nightmares, 2007’s establishing Ruins and 2009’s successful Hollow Crown, each release more impressive than the last. Known for their uncompromising ferocity and energetic live performances, Architects’ momentum continues into their sixth year and fourth album.

In 100 Words or So: The upcoming fourth full-length album by Architects, The Here and Now, is a clear artistic progression, to nobody’s surprise. The album gets its title from the current single and opening track Day In Day Out, with Carter leading the melodic scream-a-long chorus “to all those not living in the here and now”, setting the tone for the nine tracks that follow. A highlight of the album is the collaborations with their pals and some of the best in the genre on the raging track Stay Young Forever featuring Andrew Neufeld of Comeback Kid and the closing track Year in Tear Out/Up and Away featuring Greg Puciato of the Dillinger Escape Plan.

Best Track: Day In Day Out

RIYL: Bring Me The Horizon, August Burns Red, The Chariot, Dillinger Escape Plan, Comeback Kid, Protest the Hero
