I am a giant liar.

I said there were only (!) three First Spins this week, but I was wrong. I just unleashed a fourth, and it’s Interpol‘s brand new album, and their first on a major label (Capitol) since fulfilling their duties over at Matador with the first two albums. Which, you’ll recall, were both grand successes! You can listen to Our Love To Admire in its entirety a week before it hits stores on July 10! Have a listen now!

My friend Nathan and I had a virtual pre-release listening party for the new album last week, as is our wont. If you’ve never had a virtual listening party, allow me to educate you: it’s where two people queue up an album and then listen from the comforts of their computers (or stereos, I guess) simultaneously, and then critique the album’s contents. Since Nathan and I live on opposite ends of the country (he lives in Vancouver), this is how we enjoy new music! At first listen I’m a big fan of the first song on the album (Pioneer To The Falls), which has such a strong and haunting opening…I mean, what a great way to start off an album! And I also love the single, The Heinrich Maneuver. The video is very cool, too:
