Listen to Michael Jackson’s Michael right here!
Need to know: How do you put everything someone ‘Needs to Know’ about Michael Jackson in one paragraph? The King of Pop, as crowned by people worldwide, defended his title until he was taken all too early at the age of 50 in 2009. A marriage to Lisa Marie Presley, two high profile court cases and all-around odd behaviour later in his life threatened to overshadow the immeasurable success Jackson achieved early in his life. As the youngest member of the Jackson 5, Michael went on to become a solo artist and continues to hold the record for the highest selling album of all time for 1982′s Thriller. There never has been and never will be another Michael, an artist that has forever changed not only music history, but history in general.
100 words or so: The first of possibly many posthumous Michael Jackson records released by the Jackson estate features more collaborations than Jackson had during his 40 year plus career before passing away. While his work with Akon is nothing groundbreaking, Jackson’s collaboration with Lenny Kravitz on (I Can’t Make It) Another Day is a welcomed throwback to 1991′s hugely successful Dangerous. As the King of Pop Michael helped pioneer what it meant to be pop music, meshing influences from all musical genres, a practice he carried on in Michael, especially in the Motown-inspired (I Like) The Way That You Love Me, a nod to his beginnings on stage with his four older brothers.
