Listen to These Kids Wear Crowns’ new album Jumpstart here before it’s released!
Need to Know: After winning over the hearts of the judges and Canada on MuchMusic’s disBAND, the guys from These Kids Wear Crowns were brought back to Toronto for another episode, this time for MuchMusic’s Discovered. It was then that the band was signed to a major label, catapulting them onto the charts and onto a Canadian tour with Hedley, Lights and fellow disBAND’ers San Sebastian. This December they released a Christmas song titled Red, White and You exclusively on iTunes and had their first single Break It Up featured on an episode of Degrassi.
In 100 Words or So: These Kids Wear Crowns’ cover of Whitney Houston’s 1987 hit I Wanna Dance With Somebody gives the song the contemporary update that could bring the track and the group success similar to the fame enjoyed by the Atari’s with their remake of Don Henley’s Boys of Summer. Their positive outlook and drive to be the next big Canadian pop rock group has not only gotten the band to point where their first record is about to be released, but also served as the influence for the majority of the album’s subject nature. Upbeat, poppy and catchy, Jumpstart is chalk full of radio-friendly tracks that can get the toes of even the most cynical of music fans tapping.
