You might’ve seen Chvrches pop up here and there on our blog and video flow lately, but we think you should take some time and invest some time in one of our new favourite bands. The Glasgow electro-pop trio has only been a band for about two years, but with the release of their new album, The Bones of What You Believe coming out next Tuesday, we’ve compiled a little list to prove to you just why Chvrches needs to become a new staple on your playlist.
1. They make good, catchy music.
We’ve had The Mother We Share on repeat for weeks, maybe months, but Chvrches’ upcoming full-length debut, The Bones of What You Believe is jam-packed with the same melodic earworms wrapped in slinky synth goodness.
For example, Recover:
2. Their music videos are just as addictive.
Their music video for Gun is a psychedelic, trippy visual experience that is just straight-up hypnotizing to look at/listen to.
3. They’ve toured with some of our favourite bands.
Although Chvrches is a fairly new band, they’ve already shared stages with some esteemed names such as Passion Pit, Two Door Cinema Club and even Depeche Mode.
4. They have good Instagram game.
Members of the band continuously keep us posted on their latest adventures on the road, whether it’s visiting a cat cafe in Japan or just watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Start following them now!
5. Lead singer Lauren Mayberry is not only a good songwriter, but she’s also a great journalist.
Before Chvrches, Mayberry graduated with a masters in journalism and have worked as an editor and freelance journalist. She still dabbles in writing, outside of songs that is, with sporadic pieces for various publications (like this one) and she even helps run a all-female DIY zine called TYCI.
