Miley, Charlie and more!
January 23rd, 2014
Broad City premiered on Much last night and we couldn’t be happier to see our fave New York City besties go from internet sensations to real TV stars. As we mentioned, stars Ilana and Abbi are two friends who tackle life in the Big Apple and through all their wacky adventures, we’ve taken a few tips away on how to perfect a friendship like theirs.
Take a look below and see the five rules of friendship that we took away from last night’s episode of Broad City. And be sure to tune in for new episodes of Broad City every Wednesday at 10:30E/7:30P on Much!
1. Friends don’t Skype friends while they’re having sex.
Seems like common logic, but last night’s episode opens with Ilana ringing up Abbi in the middle of having sex with a guy. Of course Abbi herself is also enjoying her scheduled masturbating session but let’s all agree that any kind of sexual act while video chatting your BFF would be a bit much. The ultimate definition of TMI.
2. Don’t encourage friends to skip work.
After Ilana skips out on her job (hey, if you’re not getting paid on time what’s the point?), she runs over to convince Abbi to play Ferris Bueller for the day. In theory, this is totally acceptable and in fact, we wish we could do the same, BUT as responsible adults who should not be condoning such behavior, we’re going to tell you not to convince friends to bail mid-day… (It would be fun, though.)
3. Always busk with a buddy.
It’s just more fun when you have a drumming partner on the streets. As the saying goes: friends who busk together, stay together! Wait, what do you mean that’s not an actual saying?
4. Never drag your friend into a Craigslist scheme.
Ilana secretly offers up both her and Abbi’s services up to a hilariously creepy Fred Armisen in which they had to clean his character’s apartment in their underwear for an hour. And this is exactly why you should never your friend join the deep, dark world of Craigslist and more importantly, don’t let them drag you into their business while they’re at it.
5. Respect the differences between you and your bestie.
It’s clear that Abbi and Ilana are very different people with different lifestyles, priorities and personalities, but they are still the bestest of friends at the end of the day. And the key to a great friendship is to embrace each other’s unique traits and not force your beliefs and lifestyle on the other person — otherwise you’d get this episode of Broad City, which is mega-hilarious on-screen, but surely frustrating IRL.
