We were already huge fans of Ariana Grande’s Baby I video preview, but now that we’ve seen the full video, we’re practically bowing down to our new princess of pop.
The fun and flirty new clip for the singer’s Yours Truly single is our fave video today and here are five things that Grande NAILS (first, watch the video below!).
1. Well, of course, that voice:
Pop music needs its big voices back. Not since the days of Mariah Carey, or even Christina Aguilera, have we had a voice like this to carry songs solely with a voice and nothing else. I mean, yes, Grande has a definitive image and personality that completes the package, but the obvious star here is the voice. She can literally sing the phone book and it would still sound phenomenal. Powerhouse vocal pop is the best pop.
(That voice is SKY. HIGH.)
2. This is how you do the ’90s.
Everything from the outfits to the general concept of this video is very ’90s, but in the best way possible. Most artists who try to channel this decade often veer too outlandish and cartoony, but Grande’s brightly coloured vision of the ’90s is refreshing and just the right combination of the past and present.
3. The dancing!
It’s fun, it’s easy, it’s something we can totally pick up on and do it ourselves. It’s this relatability that makes us, as music fans, connect with Grande even more. We want to run out on the streets and dance with her ASAP.
4. Sunflowers are so in.
We already discussed this earlier today while dissecting Katy Perry’s new album cover, but we’re just going to call this sunflower trend now. Go out and buy all of the sunflowers and sunflower prints and tell your friends MUCH said it was cool.
5. She understands the simple things.

Good job, Ariana.
*Not incorrect per se, just abrasive and kind of scary.Tweet
