“Follow the Leader”… but to where?

May 6th, 2009

This picture of Dan and Eloise from Season 5 Episode 3 "Jughead" works as some wicked foreshadowing, huh?

Tonight’s episode of LOST, titled “Follow the Leader” has the following ‘official’ summary:

Jack and Kate find themselves at odds over the direction to take to save their fellow island survivors, Locke further solidifies his stance as leader of “The Others,” and Sawyer and Juliet come under scrutiny from the Dharma Initiative.

This is the last episode that’s gonna air before the two-part season finale. And guess what, we still have no idea what’s going on with, well, anything on the island. Between the dubious allegiances of Elouise Hawking, Charles Widmore, and dear Ben, and all these time-travel shenanigans going on, us here at the office are having trouble keeping our heads on straight. I’m sure you are too. Come, share your thoughts with me.

SPOILERS below, be wary.

Okay team, let’s recap. Here’s what we don’t know:

* An “incident” is coming up, and good old Daniel Faraday was going trying to stop it, but he got SHOT by his mother. Why? Is he dead? No one (on the internet) is even sure.
* Is Desmond coming back to the island? Will he bring Penny? What about Charles? Will he finally get back like he’s always wanted?
* Who are those people that keep asking about “what lies in the shadow of the statue?” What do they have to do with the castaways?
* How long before Locke, Sun, Frank, and Ben arrive in 1977, or the 1977 castaways catch up with them? Is Jacob going to be involved? Is Jacob also Christian Sheppard? What the heck is Christian Sheppard going all ghostly on the island in the first place?
* Are our LOSTies gonna have to reset the island to save everyone’s lives? Doesn’t that mean they wouldn’t know each other any more? That would be uber sad! No more Kate and Sawyer/Jack… no more Penny and Desmond… no more Jin and Sun…
* If the above happens, how do you explain whole other season of the show still to come?

I dunno. I’m still waiting for Vincent to come back. You can let me know what your opinions and theories are below, ESPECIALLY after the Episode 15 airs tonight.

(PS: If you missed the last episode, you can check them out over here. Now get LOST.)

  1. I’m really “Lost” with this show. I love it, but I was hoping we’d get more answers by now. I’m completely confused, and whenever somethign starts to make sense, they give me a whole new perplexing puzzle.
I’m thinking we’ll just see more of the same with tonight’s episode.

  2. Same here actually…I know this is bad..but I havent watched Lost from the beginning, but I just started watching some episodes here and there and I like it. I’m definitely confused sometimes too..I feel like there is so much going on.

Al Trautwig explains a lot when he gives his thoughts though so i understand from him too haha http://blogs.msg.com/themonitor/2009/05/06/lost-thoughts-are-you-ready-to-follow-the-leader/

  4. Big LOST fan. Tonight’s episode was fantastic. What is going on with Locke? He’s beginning to freak me out the way Ben did once upon a time. Role reversal much?
I can’t wait until next week to see Jacob’s true identity. It’s going to be a doozie!

  5. Methinks Locke might secretly know how he died… and he’s getting his revenge through turning into a huge control freak.

Sadly, I think we have to wait two weeks before the two-part season finale starts…
