Fox announces Avatar DVD release

Avatar is coming to DVD next month!

But don’t get too excited.

Despite recent news that the biggest movie ever will be re-released in theatres this summer with 10-12 extra minutes, Fox has decided to release the Avatar DVD on April 22nd. (In case you’re not in touch with your green side, that day also happens to be Earth Day. How perfect is that?)

So why would James Cameron release the DVD when he wants to bring it back in the summer with extra scenes? Well, the DVD will contain no special features and come in a lacklustre 2D format.

Methinks they’re planning on milking this flick till it’s dry. You just know a special five-disc, 3D DVD box set with every imaginable scene will eventually come out at some point.
