So, I was just reading Kate’s blog below and was prompted to click through for some info about the upcoming third album from Franz Ferdinand, news of which I’ve somehow managed to completely avoid. How is this possible?
The wikipedia page is frighteningly detailed.
Earlier this summer, the band’s official site was a pure black background with the words Not Yet (see above), leading people to believe that the album wasn’t yet ready and that when it was, it’d be called Not Yet.
They’ve been playing a bunch of newly written songs live, including a song called “Katherine, Kiss Me. UM. OK, ALEX! I will gladly do so.
This song in particular makes me really excited (despite that not being the exact spelling of my name, but it’s very close!) – my name has never been the subject of a pop song. Growing up I was super jealous of my sister cause the band Starship had a hit song called Sara and people would always talk about it (P.S.: It’s actually Sarah’s birthday today – cheers!).
I guess k.d. lang DOES have a song called The Mind Of Love (Where Is Your Head, Kathryn), but she’s a boring lesbian whose music I don’t care for, so forgive me if that song doesn’t tickle me the way I think Franz’s tune will.
Other songs that may or may not appear on the unnamed third album, scheduled for release sometime in 2008:
English Goodbye
A New Thrill
Favourite Lie
Turn It On
Anyone In Love
Live Alone
Katherine Kiss Me
Ulysses
Flight Of The Galvatron
A New Dawn
Hallam Foe, Dandelion Blow
Jackie Jackson
Swallow Smile
No
I have a renewed excitement to hear new stuff from the band. Everyone thought they’d be “cursed by the Mercury” or suffer from a “sophomore slump” when You Could Have It So Much Better… came out, but it ended up kicking all of our asses.
