So I went to see a free Wyclef concert at Circa on Tuesday night and it was crazy! (I know, I had you at “free”, right?) This was all thanks to the people at Stella Artois, throwing a party to introduce their new beer, Stella Artois Legere.
Circa is a huge venue and the place was packed! I managed to secure a spot on the second floor right by the railing so I could see the concert without having to jump and look past heads…which is something I really despise doing. Wyclef came on stage at about 11:30pm and I almost didn’t recognize him without all of his hair! But once he grabbed the mic there was no doubting it was him. Among others, he performed songs off the Fugees album, with the DJ spinning Lauren Hill’s vocals while he did his thing. The same rule applied when it came to his duo with Shakira.
It wasn’t until Wyclef picked up his electric guitar that I discovered just how much more I like the guy. He played the guitar behind his head and then with his mouth! I mean, really. Barely being able to play Guitar Hero puts that kind of stunt into perspective! Think about it…

One of the many things to know about Wyclef is that he’s crazy spontaneous. I say this after watching him jump into the crowd, piggy backing his security guard and even scaling the wall to get up to the second floor where I was standing. (Wyclef, you know Circa has stairs, right?) And once he got up to the second floor, he balanced on this tiny ledge and did his thing. I gotta say, as nice as it was to stand an arm’s length away from Wyclef and see him up close, I was a little worried that his balancing act would be a terrible flashback for everyone attending that night…phew!

Between Wyclef pulling fans on stage to dance and sing, head stands and backflips, wall climbing and walking through the crowd, this was definitely an great show! It’s hard to believe it was all for free!
