Someone should tell Garrett Hedlund about audio books. The Tron actor was in Toronto this week to promote his new film On The Road and talked to MTV about the rumours earlier this year linking his name to the character of Finnick Odair in the upcoming Hunger Games film, Catching Fire.
Hedlund confirmed that he was approached for the role, saying “They did [approach me]. But I was working on this film at the time. We shot the whole film in 23 days and I was really immersed in it. I couldn’t get around [to reading the 'Hunger Games' novels].”
Couldn’t Hedlund have just cheated like the rest of us in Grade 11 English and watched the movie? With an A-list cast of Jennifer Lawrence, Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland on board (just to name a few), it seems like reading the book would have been more of an afterthought. Or maybe Hedlund watched his On The Road co-star Kristen Stewart be constantly hounded by the press as a result of her Twilight-fame and decided to avoid the teen trilogies all together.
