Some of music’s biggest stars aren’t managed by some high-powered executive. In fact, they’re managed by their very own mothers. Since it’s Mother’s Day this weekend, we decided to dig behind the scenes and find some of music’s most powerful momagers. Check out the playlist below and remember to get your mom something nice! You still have time!
Bieber’s mom Pattie Mallette was an integral part of the pop star’s music career, managing him in the early years. And even though Scooter Braun has taken over managing duties, Mallette remains an important and influential part of Bieber’s life while pursuing her own career in being an author and film producer.
Gomez’s mom Mandy Cornett has overseen her daughter’s acting and singing career since her days on Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place, but has been recently fired and according to reports, Cornett is still reeling from the news.
Waka Flocka Flame
Rapper Waka Flocka Flame was managed by his mom Debra Antney and her management company Mizay Entertainment in his early years. Antney has also managed the likes of Nicki Minaj, Gucci Mane and French Montana.
Though Beyoncé was under her father Mathew Knowles’ management for a long time, before going independent, Bey has also developed a very close working relationship with her mom Tina. Together, they’ve collaborated on the fashion brand House of Deréon and Tina was also known to style Destiny’s Child back in the ’90s/early 00′s.
The R&B star’s mom Sonja Norwood served as her daughter’s manager and stylist back in the ’90s when the star was just emerging.
Ashanti’s mom Tina Douglas still managers her daughter, who has a new album entitled BraveHeart coming out this summer.
Yeezy’s mom Donda West was a professor of English at Clark Atlanta University, but retired to be West’s manager early on. Donda’s death in 2007 had a huge impact on the rapper who, a year later, finally opened up and described it as, “it was like losing an arm and a leg and trying to walk through that.” West is engaged to Kim Kardashian who also has a famous momager, Kris Jenner.
Usher’s mom Jonnetta Patton has served as his manager twice. Patton first parted ways with her son in 2007, but then a year later, he rehired her.
Although she was never officially Britney’s momager, Lynne Spears has served an important part in the star’s tumultuous singing career. Lynne has teamed up with her daughter to write two books and has written one on her own about her family and the affect tabloids have had on them.
Miley’s mom Tish Cyrus has been with her pop star daughter since Hannah Montana, managing her every step, even through her most recent Bangerz transformation.
But of course Mother’s Day is not complete without this song:Tweet
