Get Your Creative Juices Going!

May 31st, 2006

There is something so awe-inspiring about the work that Michel Gondry produces. It always leaves you feeling so giddy inside. Recently Partizan (the production company that reps Gondry), posted a two minute clip of his much-anticipated new film The Science of Sleep, starring the oh-so droolworthy Gael Garcia Bernal, on their site. Now, if you are familiar with any of Michel’s body of work you would remember the Foo Fighters’ ‘Everlong’ video. This particular clip bares a slight resemblance to the video itself. I guess we could say that The Science of Sleep is an extension of the music video. Many of the ideas and concepts such as the big hand reappear in the film. Watching this clip, you will feel like you’ve entered Michel Gondry’s brain; an eccentric and colourful world. If you want to see something that will blow your creative senses away, check this clip out. You will be inspired.

Since we are on the topic of creative geniuses, I must mention an up and comer that is worth taking note of. His name is Dougal Wilson and he is another one of those fantastically talented music video directors. My favorite video by him is ‘Three Girl Rumba’ by Klonhertz. Paper doll cut-outs, really how can you not love it?

Apparently today’s theme is creativity. Well to top things off, I recently caught the promotional ads for the new adidas shoe line, adicolor. For their campaign, they enlisted some of the most brilliant directors around to make their own interpretation of the colors white, red, blue, yellow, green, pink and black. By far the best one from the batch is the Roman Coppola co-directed piece for the color red. He takes us on a bit of a faux history lesson of the color red. If you are bored and need some eye candy then check out all of the ads. Oh man, I am such a nerd…

Peace Out.
