One simple YouTube search and I quickly stumbled across an odd phenom: Boys doing cover versions of Britney Spears‘ “Gimme More.” Here are a few high-lights:
The Acoustic Version
The following guy knows his way around the guitar and his voice is decent, but what makes this vid stand out are his home-grown special effects. At the 1:43 mark he starts shooting lightning out of his guitar and mouth, which gives way to rain. And widescreen format. Odd.
The Ballad Version
This guy is impressive on the piano but his falsetto voice creeps me out - so does his sheer earnestness. Also, someone commented that when he sings the “more” in the chorus, he sounds like a frog - and I couldn’t agree more. But his final line? Gold.
The Duet Version
These identical twins actually sound kinda good. But I can’t help but think that they are losers.
The Drunk Emo Version
In between his low-energy, off-key, poorly-strummed verses & choruses, this heavily-accented guy drinks beer, takes snack breaks and applies deodorant - without any sense of irony. This guy is priceless. He’s about as “into” the song as Britney was at the VMAs. I loves it.
What is it about this song that compels these guys to pick up their instruments?

Wow! These are terrible. And by terrible I mean fantastic.
No no you were right the first time there are terrible
haha that video with the twins is me and my twin brother! we’re not losers… then again we did record a britney song…
eek - now i’m embarrassed. you never think that someone you post about actually ends up reading your blog…. yikes. awwwkwwwaaaarrdddd.
well at least you guys didn’t include lightning effects or deodorant breaks into your vid… and plus any britney cover is better than “chocolate rain” so good on ya.
The guy on piano sounds more like Microsoft Sam than a frog when he says “More”
Thats not nice to say
Don;t worry Soja. I love this blog and I still do! We honestly did that as a humorous, non-serious little joke. We are just surprised at how much it’s gotten around. It’s actually flattering that it’s found its way to a website i frequently visit!
Oh man. I love how it takes NO time for people to make their own versions of new songs. Vive la technologie!
I love how technology promotes terrible people. Makes it so much easier to warp otherwise uncorrupted minds. I smell fail.
Rah rah oo la la rama ma la la gaga!
