Tragic news coming out of the West Coast today. Glee star Cory Monteith was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room around noon yesterday when staff found the star after he missed check-out. The Vancouver Police held a press conference late last night after contacting Monteith’s family, confirming that Monteith had been found by hotel staff, dead at age 31.
Monteith, who was born in Calgary and raised in Victoria, BC, had spent Friday night with friends before returning to his hotel room alone. Police reviewed security footage, which showed Monteith entering his hotel room alone. No foul play is suspected and an autopsy is set to be performed on Monday by the coroner’s office.
Monteith rose to fame playing high school football player and member of the Glee club on the hit show Glee, which premiered in 2009. Monteith had been dating his Glee co-star Lea Michele for the past year.
In 2011, Monteith told Parade Magazine he was lucky to be alive after checking into rehab at 19 for substance abuse. Monteith voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility in March and was frequently photographed in the following months looking healthy and happy with Michele.
Our thoughts are with the Monteith family at this difficult time.Tweet
