No, that’s not a typo. Robyn’s new music video for U Should Know Better does feature Snoop Dogg, not Snoop Lion, since the song was recorded for the Swedish singer’s 2010 disc Body Talk Pt. 2, back when Snoop had a dee oh double gee at the end of his name. While Robyn fans have been dancing to the track for years, only now has a video for the collab surfaced, and thankfully it was worth the wait.
Snoop and Robyn take part in some gender bending casting in the video, with a young boy playing Robyn and a female look-a-like reppin’ for one of the greatest MCs of all time. The boy practises his Robyn-inspired dance moves in his bedroom, complete with Konichiwa Records posters, until his mother, played by Robyn in a blink and you’ll miss it cameo, tries to tell him to turn down the music.
Adidas has put together an in-depth behind the scenes look at the making of the video, which includes how the video concept came together and what went into casting the two leads. This is easily one of the best BTS looks into a music video I’ve seen in a long time.
