Essential summer listening.

One of the best things about working at MuchMusic is that’s there tends to be a lot of it. Music, that is. My colleagues are continuously throwing new music my way. Kyle recently raved about this new artist from Portland. “OHMIGAD, Aimee, have you heard of Port St. Willow?!?!!?” he asked. Dubious that I had not I checked them out and found out that Port St. Willow is Nick Principe, a kinda looking young man, whose angelic and haunting voice has pervaded my WESC headphones and is now my new obsession.
Port St. Willow’s album Holiday could be likened as a slow and ambient journey through a forestry landscape (perhaps the through the Oregon portion of the Cascades?) and through my DREAMS. My dreams, people. The drum and guitar work on the album reminds me of Local Native’s Gorilla Manor except the vocals have more of a Bon Iver sound. If you like Bon Iver, you’re going to lovePort St. Willow.
