Gosling. McAdams. Tears.

ryan and rachel split blog edit.jpg

I type this on a tear-splattered keyboard - my monitor is a blur, my fingers are heavy with sorrow. I, who is usually the perpetual cock-eyed optimist, suddenly find myself with a glass that is half empty. Completely thwarted. Why, God, why?! Let me start at the beginning…

It all begins in London, Ontario… two young thespians go to High School together.

One (Ryan Gosling) stars in a little Canadian TV show called Breaker High. In a cast filled with young pretty people, who would have thought that the dorky little blond guy would become a major Hollywood contender…?

Meanwhile, the other (Rachel McAdams) gets cast as Rob Schneider’s female counterpart in a little-seen movie called The Hot Chick

Both cross paths again when they star in a much-balleyhooed (and much “boo hoo hooed”) movie called The Notebook. And love is born. A love that is so sweet, endearing, and so utterly Canadian that you have no choice but to root for the two sweethearts.

Then THIS disgusting headline comes along: Gosling confirms McAdams split.

Why not just punch me in the stomach, Ryan?! God! If these two can’t make it work, where does it leave the rest of us?!

I guess I now have to fill my home with cats and Precious Moments figurines. Ugh! We’re all doomed. DOOMED!

    They were the perfect couple.

    =(

    we are certainly doomed.

  3. I just met Rachel downtown a few hours ago! I work downtown and park by the lot right next to the Scotiabank Theatre. I finished work late and was going to my car when I saw them filming something right by Richmond and Peter, in the vacant club that used to me Fez Batik. Found out it was for “The Time Travelers Wife” starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana. They were right there outside, no crowed at all. I stood around watching them film a couple of scenes which was really cool being an aspiring filmmaker. Then when they finished up I managed to catch Rachel before she got in a car, I unfortunately broke my camera recently so couldn’t take a picture with her (still kicking myself for that) but did get her autograph and she even wrote “muchlove” awwwwww. And quickly chatted with her. I was really touched and appreciative that she took the time to do that, even when her agent was trying to get her to jump into the car. I thought she was the most beautiful person I ever saw when she was first on MuchMusic, and now I’m even more in love, haha sorry i’m still pumped by the whole situation.

Ryan Gosling is a cool guy, I loved Breaker High, but sorry dude you just lost something amazing.

  5. So sad :[

They were probably the most perfect couple, too.

(by the way, I laughed at the name “thatguy….again……hey! could I get a job as a guest blogger?”. So subtle, it hurts.)

  6. I do NOT like the word ‘thwart’.
