Green Day: The Musical (Kind Of)

Prepare for American Idiot to come to life: Green Day have confirmed that the 2004 album will be turned into a musical, hitting the stage this September. You may have heard rumours in the past, but this is a sure thing – it’ll debut at the Berkley Repertory Theatre in Cali-forn-i-a.

Michael Mayer, the director of Spring Awakening, and his producing partner approached Green Day with the idea a couple years ago. After a series of workshops, the band gave the idea a thumbs up.

Billie Joe Armstrong told the New York Times: “It doesn’t make a lot of sense, but that’s what I love about it. When people see it, it’s going to be my wildest dream.”
