Every once in a while you have this incredible feeling that you are witnessing history.
I was a little bummed out these past couple months thinking I had missed out on all the big summer shows (Kanye. Jay-Z. Alicia), when a friend of mine came along and dropped a ticket in my lap to a show that had been sold out for ages. For an artist that I grew up reading. And listening to. It was a ticket to Leonard Cohen’s first show in Toronto in almost 15 years.
I was so excited to see him that I was nervous. Leonard Cohen is nearly 75 years old, a musical legend and one of the best songwriters that has ever lived. So many people have reviewed the show saying it was like being in an intense spiritual setting and I have to agree. It was incredible to see an artist who has lived his entire life singing his songs with a newfound sense of understanding.
The entire house came down when he sang Hallelujah. Nearly everyone was in tears.
He is now officially on his world tour. If he is passing through your city, or in a city near you, find a way to see him perform. I promise it will change you.
That show jump started my entire week and has given me so much energy for the MADNESS that is the MMVAs.
Devon and I are hosting the Red Carpet again this year and I have no doubt more craziness will ensue when the celebs hit the red carpet. So tune in Sunday and brace yourselves!
