Hear a new Broken Social Scene song from ‘Scott Pilgrim’

We’ve already told you about the soundtrack to Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World and now there is a sampling of a new song written by Toronto’s own Broken Social Scene.

First, an explanation. There are two new Broken Social Scene songs on the soundtrack but they’re actually credited to Crash and the Boys, a fictional hardcore band they made up exclusively for the film. As BSS frontman Kevin Drew recently told Exclaim!, they chose actor Erik Knudsen (who plays Crash) to sing “because the songs were so quick and punk and fast, I knew he didn’t need to be a singer to pull this off. It had to be the character’s voice.”

Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World the soundtrack is released on August 10th. Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World the movie is out on August 13th.
