Colour me confused: Green Day has released a list of cities and the corresponding venues they’ll be playing in on their Summer-Fall tour in support of their upcoming album 21st Century Breakdown. Which is all fine and dandy.
But check out this list: where is the Toronto date? While you lucky schmucks in the surrounding area (read: Detroit, Hamilton, Ottawa, Montreal) enjoy your shows, we’re kinda left in the totally unfair dark.
Wild speculation over the blank dates in their otherwise stupid-full calendar can only mean they’ll either be here on July 15th… or in September. For V-Fest, maybe? Seems crazy, but I’m willing to grasp at any straw I can find at this point.
What will you do if Green Day forgets about Toronto completely? Road Trip? Hunger strike? Send them a letter every day soaked in your tears telling the band how you’re their biggest fan and asking them politely to schedule a Toronto date? Start a petition? Join six new religions and stock up on extra deities to grant your prayers? Tell us! I need ideas…

This is why the rest of Canada hates Toronto. Can’t you just drive the 45 minutes or whatever to Hamilton? I’m sure there are people in Calgary who aren’t pleased…but they’ll probably just go to Edmonton.
So yes…”road trip” is the correct answer.
The reason why Green Day is playing Copps Coliseum in Hamilton is because the Air Canada Centre is going dark for a period of time in the summer for renovations. It’s because of this same reason why Beyonce is playing the Molson Amphitheatre instead of the ACC, and why the American Idols Live Tour is headed to Hamilton instead of Toronto. As to why Green Day is not playing The Molson Amphitheatre, it’s probably because the date is on hold for someone else, or their planned show is too elaborate for an outdoor venue.
Hamilton seems a safe bet, it’s not that far away. I travel farther for anything. I’m in the middle of London and Toronto (an hour to either) and Toronto to Hamilton is ridiculously easy I say road trip. If that even qualifies as a road trip.
Who cares if their not coming to Toronto, if you’re a true fan then you’ll go anywhere to see them, so it shouldn’t matter if they are coming to Toronto or not. I’m a huge fan of them and have been for 7 years and I am going to see them for the first time when they come to Hamilton. So that is all I have to say about that for now.

They need a London or Windsor, Ontario date. There’s a new arena in Windsor that is certainly looking for acts. And my aunt lives like a few blocks away so I’m pretty sure I would be able to go.
