It’s actually dangerous
July 24th, 2014
It seems like the internet has been giving us a new “song of the summer” every week and it’s only the middle of July. Shouldn’t the summer be over before we crown a song with that glorious honour?
Anyway, here is my nomination for song of the summer:
Originally leaked as a snippet from the up-coming Madonna album, the song is actually by a DJ you should have heard of. Sander Kleinenberg has a fair share of notches on his bed’s headboard. In 2011 he had a viral hit with This Is Miami and a smash album 5K.
This is definetly a bit of a different sound for Sander. He is essentially reinventing his sound with a disco-infused, house track sporting a vocoder vocal. Personally, We Are Superstars is the banger that should have been on Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories.
These are my other nominations for “Song of Summer”:
If this song doesn’t win “Song of the summer” it definitely should be second place. When it was first played on the Annie Mac radio show I remember my mouth dropping to the floor and staying there for 30 minutes. The collaboration between Robyn and Röyksopp is as close to perfect as peanut butter and jelly.
Unlike most songs, I don’t mind hearing this song over and over again on every radio station and tween’s iPod. Dave 1 and P-Thugg are seriously the coolest people in the world and you can tell that they busted there balls making there new album, White Women, sound perfect.
Lastly, Zeds Dead blew me away with this track. This song combines everything that summer is about! Fun, dancing, deep funky beats, and just enough of dub step to give you that dirty feeling you want.
I’m sure I’ll have 100 more nominations by the end of the summer, so let’s touch base again in the fall!
