Saturday Night Live is off to a great 2014 with last week’s host and musical guest Drake delivering a solid hour and a half of live television (check out our favourite moments here). We’re hoping the good times keep rolling with this week’s host, second-time Oscar nominee and third-time SNL host, Jonah Hill. The standard promo for Hill’s upcoming episode was released today and features SNL’s new golden boy Taran Killam.
The sketches are carried by Killam, while Hill looks like he’s reading straight from the teleprompter. Not an overly promising start to this weekend’s show, but here’s why we’re still going to tune in.
Jonah’s six-year-old Adam Grossman is one of my favourite reoccurring characters in recent SNL history. I’m looking forward to another awkward meal at Benihana and possibly to the return of Bill Hader as Mr. Grossman.
As Taran Killam points out in this week’s promo for SNL, this Saturday will mark Hills third time as host for the sketch comedy program. People tend to get better with each hosting gig, so this weekend should be easy peasy for Jonah.
Thanks to films like 21 Jump Street and Wolf of Wall Street (huh, just noticed the title similarities), Jonah is now bros with the likes of Channing Tatum and Leonardo DiCaprio. Will either actor show up? Probably not. But I’m not taking any chances.
Bastille are this weekend’s musical guests and have one of the biggest songs in North America right now with Pompeii. Good host plus good band make for a good night. It’s simple math, y’all.Tweet
