Ashley Tisdale & Zac Efron at the ‘High School Musical 2′ Premiere in Anaheim, California.
High School Musical 2 aired last Friday, but it has taken me a few days to digest what I had seen. All I can say is “WTF?!” I had seen the first one, so I knew what I was getting myself into, but man-oh-man was this ever cheesy - and frankly I wouldn’t have it any other way.
HSM2 takes place over summer break and the East High Wildcats, depending on their economical status, either lounge at the local country club or work at the local country club. The end-of-summer talent show is fast approaching and Troy (blue-eyed and sulking Zac Efron), Gabriella (pretty-yet-bland Vanessa Anne Hudgens), Sharpay (scene-stealer Ashley Tisdale) & Ryan (lovable Lucas Grabeel) are all vying to win the show trophy. Of course, Evil Sharpay makes the moves on Troy, Troy gets enchanted by the ritzy privileged lifestyle, in turn Gabriella & Co. get disenchanted by the now-snobby Troy, and poor Ryan just wants to finally “do the right thing” - and through all this mayhem the most important silly question is this: will Troy and Gabriella finally kiss?!!!
Horrible dance number is followed by horrible dance number. Some stand-outs include: Troy and Gabriella prancing around the dining room piano singing “You Are The Music In Me” (tehe - I can see Zac’s boxers); the very questionable baseball game-turned-Broadway dance-off titled “I Don’t Dance” (but clearly you DO!); and “edgy” Troy, dressed in black, footloosing it across the golf course in “Bet On It” (learn to point your toes, Zac).
Cheesy dialogue, over-acting, predictable plot - it was all so wonderfully delicious that I can’t wait until High School Musical 3, which is apparently going to be a theatrical release. I don’t think this sort of schlock will translate well to the big screen, but of course it will make millions no matter how charmingly bad it is - this has already been proven with the crazy success of the first two installments.

I agree. The dance numbers were pretty stupid. It was okay, I guess.
HSM sucks ass! its way too cheesy and soo lame!
High School Musical was so cheesy !I couldnt bare to watch the whole thing. When ever they had a chance they would break into song and dance. Who wants to watch a bunch of losers prance around for 2 hours. Not me so how could such a load of cr** become so popular.
kay so i’ll admit i hated the first hsm when it first came out, but after seeing a few parts my sister made me watch it and I loved it. So i was pretty stoked and very excited about this one. I thought it was very good. Zac is so incredibly hot haha, and the songs are more catchy , and in my opinion this movie is way better then the first. I’ve literally seen high school musical 2, six times since friday when it came out.
You’ll like it =] .
It followed exactly the same formula as the first one—–good songs, good dancing, a young attractive cast, a simple plot, and a happy ending. They can’t go wrong with it. Prediction for soundtrack sales—–2-3 million. The original soundtrack sold four.
Definitely super cheesy, but when watching it with friends, it’s just something to laugh at and enjoy. The worst dance number by far was the one where Troy galavanted across the golf course…
It was such a great compliment to the first movie - I loved every moment. & I agree that it’s better enjoyed with friends
yes it was cheesy but the movie’s more for kids not adults or whatever. most people over 13 wouldn’t really like it but i thought it was okay. predictable but okay.
HSM 1 & 2 is a Disney movie and it’s intended for younger children is what we have to remember. For young kids the movie is excellent. But for teenagers/adults it’s not so great.
But I have seen both and I can say that the 1st one is way better then the 2nd one.
This movie was the best! it was way better than 1. I’m 14 and I still loved it. But I will agree when he walks across the golf course singing that is a little weird. The song’s cool though. xD
who ever thinks the dance numbers where stupid ur stupid it takes like hours 4 them to learn them and the r in alot so ya HSM2 WAS THE BEST
BYE
I would have watched this movie if it weren’t for Zac Efron. He annoys the snot out of me. Sorry to all the Zac fans, he is all yours.
That movie was a piece sh*t!!! it was so cheesy and stupid why the he** would they make the 2nd worse then the 1st? Oh ya, in the 3rd it’s Haunted HSM and it’s their Prom!!
Why the he** was that about, all the prancing around made me wanna throw my head in a trash can and scream until I couldn’t talk!!!
And the award for the sh****** movie goes to…..
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2!!!!!
At the beginning of Troy’s solo (Bet On It) I just thought he was walking up the hill, but then he stomps his foot down and just starts singing. I thought it wasn’t transitioned well at all. Also some parts in the movie didn’t make since like, how did Troy and Gabriella just know the song You Are The Music In Me when they never heard it before.
Also, when Troy and Gab go onto the golf course to have a picnic they just happened to have time to do their hair and change into fancy outfits.
Rah rah oo la la rama ma la la gaga!
