The Wedge recently met up with Toronto’s leading future disco/house crew Azari & III to discuss all things music. A straight-up interview happened, but when we asked it they had a video to request, producer Alixander III reflected on an incident where his fate juxtaposed with one of The Wedge’s greatest moments ever.
Back in the mid-to-late ’90s, a comet passed through the skies of Toronto where two things were happening: Wedge host Sook-Yin Lee was interviewing the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion in a dinghy and Alixander was up to some “dubious” activity in a farmer’s field. The sighting – which he believed was a UFO – saved his life after it distracted the gun-toting farmer, and became some heavily-circulated footage for MuchMusic all over the world.
Watch Alixander tell his side of the story…
