2013 MMVAs on June 16!
Finale Friday 7E/4P
December 21st, 2011
If you’re not sick of hearing Christmas music in shopping malls, there’s something wrong with you. But if you’re sick of listening to your favourite artists delivering fresh takes on Christmas songs (cough cough Under The Mistletoe) then something’s definitely, definitely wrong with you.
These are the Christmas songs you want to jam out to when you’re chilling with your friends, enjoying their company and staying inside from the cold. In case you haven’t checked it out yet, we’ve got some holiday themed video playlists just for this purpose HERE, but we’ve highlighted a few select songs – some old, some new – you may want to give another listen to:
Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas
We know you’re the generation who’ll fondly look back at this year’s Mariah/Bieber collaboration (not to be confused with the that other Mariah/Bieber collabo that resulted in a fake paternity suit), don’t forget the song was taken from an earlier hit of Mariah Carey’s from the early 90s. Check it out and compare the too and let us know which one you think is better!
Barenaked Ladies – We Three Kings
Now this is a Canadian collabo we can be proud of. Sarah McLachlan features on this Barenaked Ladies track as they do a mash-up of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and We Three Kings.
Destiny’s Child – Carol Of The Bells
There’s nothing like hearing the mix-up of different sounds play off each other to form an awesome carol. Now imagine one of those heavenly sounds is mixed with the voice of Beyonce. Yes, that is heaven you’re hearing.
Lady Gaga – White Christmas
Not only did Lady Gaga take an old classic, perform it perfectly and do the original justice, but she also updated it at the same time, adding an extra verse that you wouldn’t even know was brand spanking new. Looks like Christmas itself got a present this year from Lady Gaga – a brand new Christmas classic!
Kylie Minogue – Santa Baby
When you add sex into the Christmas mix, you get Santa Baby. And when you add Kylie Minogue into the mix, you get a helluva lot of sexy added to the holidays. Check this out and just try not to cuddle up with your BF/GF.
Christina Aguilera – Angels We Have Heard On High
Before she went all Bionic woman, she did let loose her soulful side during the Christmas season with this sweet sounding rendition of the popular Christmas song.
Boney M – Mary’s Boy Child
If you want a little beat in your Christmas step, look no further than Boney M. If you’re not swaying to Mary’s Boy Child, you need to get your ears flushed.
Justin Bieber – Under The Mistletoe
Yes, you’ve already heard this. But I have to put it hear again because hot damn, having your voice change mid-career really makes a difference! His lower tempo actually makes this song worthy of everyone’s playlist, not just die-hard Bieber fans.
