Not since Elton John’s Can You Feel The Love Tonight has a Disney song become such a mainstream staple. Or, maybe it’s just that I was eight when The Lion King came out and it felt like the BIGGEST THING EVER. Either way, there is no denying that Let It Go from Frozen has taken on a life of it’s own.
There was the whole John Travolta thing where he butchered poor Idina Menzel’s name at The Oscars.
The Westboro Baptist Church did a homophobic version of the song, because they are the worst, prompting actor George Takei to release his version, because he is the best.
There was the incredible version of Let It Go that included one guy doing a variety of Disney voices.
How about when Jimmy Fallon and The Roots performed the track with Menzel? So fun.
Of course, Demi Lovato released a beautiful version of the song.
And we can’t forget that Let It Go scored a big win at the Academy Awards this year for husband and wife duo Robert and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
But now, Pearl Jam, one of the original godfather bands of the grunge era, have covered Let It Go. I think this is what we call ‘coming full circle’. It is officially time to let go of Let It Go. Now go in peace.Tweet
