Indie Cribs

May 19th, 2005

Joe Pernice thinks it’s high time Cribs catered to the indie crowd. Pernice recently moved to Toronto and gives us a tour of his apartment to show us how this project could come to fruition.

Wouldn’t you love to see Bright Eyes, The Arcade Fire, Beck, or maybe even PJ Harvey livin’ large in their decked out pads?

  1. No I wouldn’t. Part of the charm of more independent artists is that they’re known for their music, not some lame garbage that would otherwise fill airtime on Muchmusic.

  2. I made an account JUST so I could comment on this.

I agree with David. No WAY would I want to see Bright Eyes, or other indie bands on Much Music. The fact that they are independant is what I love. I wouldn’t want to see them on Much Music other than for maybe The Wedge. That’s just what I think though.

  3. I agree with the above two commentors. Please, seriously, leave indie bands alone. I hate the fact that Bright Eyes, The Stills, Interpol, etc. videos are constantly being played on MuchMusic now, and wish that they would just go back to how they were before - known only by honest fans who truley appreciated their music. Sure, playing them shares them with more people who might like them, but I recently had a concert moment ruined by fangirls trying to prove that they were the biggest Conor fan.

I’m sure we’d all appreciate it if you kept the indie culture low.

  4. Yes. Please stay away from indie bands. I doubt anyone would watch those crib episodes anyway. Except those rabid “conor’s s000 hot!!!111″ fan girls. Heh. So yeah, keep the “indie” (everything you named isn’t really indie. I mean everyone and their mother’s know who The Arcade Fire are. And Bright Eyes tickets went from being 10$ to 40$.) But..keep those good, non-overrated bands for The Wedge.

  5. You guys should look into indieCRIBS. It’s currently in development and should be coming soon. I’m friends with one of the directors so inside news. They have a great collection of rare indie groups and the show looks to be very interesting.
