Inside “The Tents” of NYC

January 27th, 2012

I’m on a huge fashion-film trip right now: – The Devil Wears Prada, Confessions of a Shopaholic, The September Issue… I’m in love with these fashion-focused films. It’s like seeing your dream life play itself out on the big screen.

The Tents, a film directed by James Belzer, highlights New York City’s Bryant Park where the spring and fall fashion show tents are erected. These tents are like beacons of hopes and dreams for the sartorially savvy. Ask any fashion person about fashion weeks’ tents; make sure to cover your ears from the high-pitched squeals.

Stefano Tonchi, editor of W magazine, heartily proclaims “what we’re selling is a dream, not a garment.” Totally agree!

Using both new and old footage, and interviewing fashion world vets like Isaac Mizrahi and Christian Siriano, The Tents is all about the chaos, the glamour and the celebrity that is fashion week. A must-see for anybody even remotely interested in fashion.
