After her mental breakdown in 2008, culminating in losing custody of her children, a stint in rehab, a hit and run and shaving her head, it looks like Britney Spears is on the road back to instability.

Up until now it appeared as though things were going well for the Princess of Pop. Under the conservatorship of her father, Britney has successfully completed her worldwide Circus tour and seems to be in a healthy relationship with manager Jason Trawick. But now, reports are surfacing that Britney has gone back to using a fake British accent when she speaks, a characteristic that she took on right before her 2008 meltdown.

I really can’t say anything negative about Britney, mostly because I feel badly for her. She has become a cash cow for everyone in her life, including her family. She is 27 and has no legal control over her decisions. She has sold millions of records and is not allowed to sing live because her handlers are concerned with what she may say during her concerts.

She needs to take a big step away from Hollywood, for a long, long time. I don’t think anyone can remain totally sane if they are constantly followed by paparazzi, stripped of their decision making power, and used as a source of millions in revenue by everyone they know.

I think most people could care less if Britney spoke with a British accent. Madonna has been doing it for years. Annoying? Yes. Huge concern? No. But, if this behaviour is any indication of a relapse, take it as a sign! Comebacks are great, but only if their authentic.
