So, yesterday, my fellow “New Music Videos” team member Kathleen (who I lovingly call K) gave some big props to Keri Hilson’s new video “Pretty Girl Rock” (Check out the video here).

Like Miss K, I agree that Keri is beautiful and talented. I also have been waiting for Keri to finally have that monster hit that will blow her into the pop star stratosphere.

But, that’s where I’m going to have to draw the line.

As I was watching the video, a part of me was really digging Keri’s shout outs to iconic women in music history.

But, then she lost me at the end, where she suddenly appears, radiant in a simple t-shirt and jeans and I couldn’t help but think, “Oh honey, are you really comparing yourself to those legends?”

I’m sure that wasn’t her intention, but the visual made me think she was implying that she is the next diva. Sadly this isn’t the case when we’ve all been waiting for her to have a diva-worthy jam.

Plus, it doesn’t help that she sings “Don’t hate me ‘cuz I’m beautiful” over and over again.

It seems to me that Keri Hilson is developing an ego. Or at the very least, she’s being very conceited. And it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Sorry K, I’m just not feelin’ it.
