We all saw her at the 2012 MTV VMA’s with the custom red Versace and violently controversial exorcism-themed performance. We’ve seen her in some almost-DIY couture dresses, ever-changing hairstyles and now she’s gone Avatar-chic in a feature for Vogue magazine. Nicki Minaj and her Harajuku Barbie is so Gwen meets Gaga meets Lil’ Kim. She’s shaped a powerful new superstar that definitely transcends rap music.

But Nicki is competing with some of the most stylish vets of celebrity fashion. There’s Gaga, who admittedly has been laying low over the past few months. Regardless, she’s still a force to be reckoned with. And then Katy Perry, who at first glance might just be another pop star in outrageous costumes, but she’s got a serious penchant for haute couture (her Chanel look at the 2012 Grammys was divine!). Madonna’s making a comeback, equipped in Givenchy during her Superbowl performance.
