J.K. Rowling is back with another little tidbit for ravenous Harry Potter fans, the biographical details of a little known character, Celestina Warbeck, a popular magical singer and a favourite of Ron Wesley’s mom Molly.
Although she was mentioned a few times in the books, Rowling provided more details about the singer on Pottermore, the amazing fan site she keeps up. Celestina was created to resemble the Welsh singer Shirley Bassey who sang Goldfinger, the theme to the Bond film. Celestina is the daughter of a wizard and a muggle and had musical talent from a young age. Her mother wanted to put her in a wizarding arts school, but found that no such thing existe. So, she encouraged Celestina to participate in singing and acting at Hogwarts. She was a Gryffindor.
According to her bio, Celestina’s best-known songs are You Charmed the Heart Right Out of Me and A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love. Her fans are usually older people who love her grandstanding style and powerful voice.
Her love life was salacious and she fueled many columns in the Daily Prophet. She had been married three times and has one son.
Take a listen to a clip from one of her songs, You Stole My Cauldron But You Can’t Have My Heart performed at Universal Studios’ Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I can’t say for certain if this is true, but maybe this has something to do with the new Harry Potter play set to hit London’s West End soon.
