Ja Rule Faces Three Years in Prison

If you’ve been wondering where rapper Ja Rule has been lately, here’s the update: he’s been thinking about his possible upcoming jail sentence. Due to a 2007 gun possession charge in Manhattan, Ja could spend three years in prison. Ja Rule was arrested when police found a .40 caliber handgun with his DNA, as well as a small amount of marijuana in the rapper’s car. Ja Rule lost his bid to have the case tossed this morning in a Manhattan Supreme Court; his lawyer argued that the police had no just cause to search his Maybach.

Fun fact: this all happened following a concert that featured Kanye West and Lil Wayne; an hour prior to Ja Rule’s arrest, Lil Wayne was also cuffed when police allegedly spotted him smoking marijuana near his tour bus. After searching the bus, they found a .40 caliber handgun. Lil Wayne is expected to serve an eight month sentence beginning in February.

Not to make light of the situation, but rappers in jail are the new celebutantes in jail (hai, Paris!).
